As we finish the book of Daniel, we will learn more about end times details from the prophecies in chapter 12. We will also learn what we should be doing while we watch and wait for the return of Christ.

Daniel 12:1 “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people,
will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the
beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose
name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
Jeremiah 30:7 How awful that day will be! No other will be like it. It will be a time
of trouble for Jacob, but he will be saved out of it.
Matthew 24:15-21 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes
desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—
then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the
housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go
back to get their cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant
women and nursing mothers! Pray that your flight will not take place in winter
or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the
beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again
Daniel 12:2-3 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to
everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will
shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to
righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which
we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when He comes? Is it not you?
Indeed, you are our glory and joy.
·
What we do for God here on earth will matter for
all eternity.
Daniel 12:4-7 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time
of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.” 5
Then I, Daniel,
looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and
one on the opposite bank. 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the
waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are
fulfilled?” 7 The
man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right
hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives
forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the
power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be
completed.”
·
God is in control of the timing of everything.
Revelation 11:1-4 I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, “Go and measure the
temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. But exclude the outer court;
do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample
on the holy city for 42 months. And I will appoint my two witnesses, and
they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”
Revelation 12:13-14 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the
earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. The woman
was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place
prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time,
times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach.
Revelation 13:5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to
exercise its authority for forty-two months.
Daniel 12:8-9 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the
outcome of all this be?” 9 He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and
sealed until the time of the end.
·
Be content, God doesn’t answer all our
questions.
Daniel 12:10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will
continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are
wise will understand.
Revelation 12:10-11 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have
come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority
of His Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them
before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by
the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did
not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
·
We overcome Satan by:
·
1. Forgiven by the blood of Jesus
·
2. Testifying of the Gospel
·
3. Surrendering our life to Christ
·
Jesus purifies His bride by His shed blood
forgiving our sin
Revelation 19:7-8 Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the
Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and
clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of
God’s holy people.)
Daniel 12:11-13 “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination
that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the
one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days. 13 “As for you, go your way
till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to
receive your allotted inheritance.”
1 John 3:2-3 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet
been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him,
for we shall see Him as He is. All who have this hope in Him purify themselves,
just as He is pure.
·
Important takeaways:
·
We are called by God to be wise and reach the
lost.
·
We are to live in purity while we wait for
Jesus’ return.
·
There is a coming judgment for all people.
·
God will reward His faithful servants.
