1 Thessalonians 4:1-2 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

·         Our walk with Jesus must be our priority.

John 8:29 The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”

Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

Matthew 26:39 (NLT) He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

1 Thessalonians 3:8 For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.

·         Two ways to make our walk is our priority:

·         1. Commit to know what God says.

·         2. Commit to do what God commands.

Lamentations 3:21-22 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.

·         S- Sin to avoid

·         P- Promise to claim

·         E- Example to follow

·         C- Command to obey

·         S- Stumbling block     

1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[b] The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

·         God’s will must be our guide.

·         It is Gods will that you:

·         be saved- 1 Timothy 2:4

·         live transformed lives- Romans 12:2

·         have good testimony- 1 Peter 2:13-15

·         suffer for righteousness living- 1 Peter 3:17

·         be Spirit-filled- Ephesians 5:18

·         be thankful- 1 Thessalonians 5:18

·         be sanctified- 1 Thessalonians 4:3

·         Sanctification: the process of becoming holy (like Jesus).

·         Three ways we are sanctified:

·         1. The Word of God (John 17:17)

·         2. The Spirit of God (1 Peter 1:2)

·         3. The Fellowship of Believers (2 Timothy 2:22)

·         Sexual immorality: any form of sexual behavior outside of what God has prescribed in His Word.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 130:5 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

1 Thessalonians 4:8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

·         God’s approval must be our passion.

John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever- the Spirit of truth.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NLT) Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
