Romans 1:15 I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.
2 Timothy 1:1-2 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, in keeping with the
promise of life that is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my dear son: Grace, mercy
and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
·
God calls us according to His will and shapes us
by His grace.
Acts 8:3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he
dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.
Acts 9:1-5 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the
Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues
in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men
or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3 As he neared Damascus on
his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and
heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” 5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul
asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
Acts 9:15 But the Lord said…, “This man [Paul] is my chosen instrument to
proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.
· Grace: Freely given undeserved favor of God
Romans 3:24 [Sinners] are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that
came by Christ Jesus.
Romans 5:15 (NLT) For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even
greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through
Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not
from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can
boast.
· Grace: God-given sufficient supply for our sanctification and faithfulness
2 Corinthians 9:8 (ESV) And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so
that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every
good work.
2 Corinthians 12:9 [Jesus speaking to Paul] “My grace is sufficient for
you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
·
Sanctification: the process of becoming
more like Jesus.
Jeremiah 18:1-6 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s
house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I
saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred
in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed
best to him. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as
this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so
are you in my hand, Israel.
1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his
grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet
not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
2 Timothy 1:3-7 I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience,
as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 4 Recalling your tears, I
long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your
sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother
Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. 6 For this reason I remind
you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of
my hands. 7 For
the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and
self-discipline.
·
God gives us grace to live by faith and equips
us for faith-filled living.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
7 Impress them on
your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the
road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind
them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

2 Timothy 1:8-12 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his
prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of
God. 9 He has
saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but
because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus
before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing
of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and
immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel I was appointed a herald
and an apostle and a teacher. 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no
cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he
is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
·
God’s grace emboldens us to boldly live out the
Gospel.
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil, for you are with me;…”
2 Timothy 1:13-18 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith
and love in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the
help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. 15 You know that everyone in the province of
Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16 May the Lord show mercy to
the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed
of my chains. 17 On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he searched hard for me until he
found me. 18 May
the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day! You know very
well in how many ways he helped me in Ephesus.
·
God calls us to guard the gospel and reminds us
we don’t do it alone.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of
the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken
your stand. 2 By
this gospel you are saved…For what I received I passed on to you as of first
importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4
that he was buried,
that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
