In 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, we learn the importance of recognizing our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit and are taught to live in a way that reflects purity and holiness. We also see the need to exercise responsibility in our freedoms, flee from all sexual immorality, and live honoring God with our body, soul, and spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.

·       Our freedoms should not negatively affect ourselves or others

1 Corinthians 6:13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

·       Our body, soul and spirit are all connected. We are created to love and serve God

1 Corinthians 6:14-17 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

·       God designed sexual intimacy to help a husband-and-wife bond spiritually, emotionally and physically in their marriage

·       Honor God by living sexually pure

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

·       Honor God in our body, the temple of His Spirit

·       6 “Do you not knows” from 1 Corinthians 6:

·       We will judge the world – V2

·       Our life will judge angels – v6

·       People in sinful lifestyles will not inherit God’s kingdom – V9

·       Our body belongs to Christ – V15

·       Sexual intimacy bonds 2 to be 1, either for good or bad – V16-17

·       Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit – V19

·       1. Exercise Freedom with Responsibility

·       2. Honor God with Your Body

·       3. Flee from Sexual Immorality

·       4. Live United with Christ for His Purpose
