Paul encourages the church to run away(flee)from anyone or anything that seeks first place over God in our lives. He Reminds the church of the significance of communion, undivided worship and how to respond in the grey areas of life for the glory of God.

Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on
those who fear him,"
·
As Godly fathers we must always extend that same
love and compassion to our children.
Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it."
·
They'll imitate what they see, so have a
lifelong, loving and Biblical influence on them as their father, and on your
children's path, giving them a solid foundation.
Proverbs 4:1-5 'Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain
understanding. I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching. For I
too was a son to my father, still tender, and cherished by my mother. Then he
taught me, and he said to me, “Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep
my commands, and you will live. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my
words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
love her, and she will watch over you.'
·
While they are in our care, we protect them
spirit, soul and body. But the wisdom of God's word from the mouth of their
father can be our greatest of legacy.
1 Corinthians 10:14-15 Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.
15 I speak to
sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say.
·
Making a priority of something other than God,
whether it's an object, an idea, or a pursuit, as your source of meaning,
value, or happiness is idol worship.
Hebrews 3:12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful,
unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
1 Corinthians 10:16-22 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give
thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we
break a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf, we, who are many,
are one body, for we all share the one loaf. 18 Consider the people of Israel: Do not those
who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? 19 Do I mean then that food
sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, but the sacrifices of
pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be
participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you
cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. 22 Are we trying to arouse
the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
Psalms 78:57-58 "Like their ancestors they were disloyal and
faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow. They angered him with their high
places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.”
·
If we are inconsistent in our fellowship with
God we can't expect His blessings.
· In
grey areas consider your "rights" by asking yourself these questions:
·
1. Will this benefit growing my faith and
pleasing God?
·
2. Will giving up my right build up someone or
draw them to Christ?
·
3. Will having my way bring glory to God?
1 Corinthians 10:25-29 Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising
questions of conscience, 26 for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”[f] 27 If an unbeliever invites
you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without
raising questions of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, “This has been offered
in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you
and for the sake of conscience. 29 I am referring to the other person’s conscience, not
yours. For why is my freedom being judged by another’s conscience?
·
Having Godly wisdom to know when to use your
freedom is the maturing process of a Christ follower.
·
Going the extra mile for someone else's sake
sets you up for your victory lap.
Romans 14:12-14 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. 13 Therefore, let us stop
passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any
stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being
fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if
anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.
·
Don't trip over a hurdle in your race by causing
a brother or sister to stumble
1 Corinthians 10:30-33 If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am
I denounced because of something I thank God for? 31 So whether you eat or
drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Do not cause anyone to
stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God 33 even as I try to please
everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many,
so that they may be saved.
1 Corinthians 8:9-10 But be careful, however, that the exercise of your
rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 if someone with a weak
conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t
that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols?
·
Have God honoring intentions in all your
actions, so you encourage Godly growth in others and bring God glory. It
changes the world nearest to you.
·
When you build up people and not tear them down
you won't be disqualified in your race, and you will be victorious in Christ
having finished well!
