·         Let’s learn together how to fight God’s way.

2 Kings 18:5 “Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him.”

Isaiah 36:16-21 (NLT) “Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then each of you will eat fruit from your own vine and fig tree and drink water from your own cistern, 17 until I come and take you to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards. 18 “Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’ Have the gods of any other nations ever delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria? 19 Where are the gods of Samaria? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? 20 Who of all the gods of these countries have been able to save their lands from me? How then can the Lord deliver Jerusalem from my hand?” 21 But the people remained silent and said nothing in reply, because King Hezekiah had commanded, “Do not answer him.”

·         When facing a battle- don’t fall into the trap of engaging with Satan

Isaiah 37:1 (NLT) When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the Lord.

·         Warren Wiersbe: “When the outlook is bleak, try the uplook”

·         When facing a battle- the best place to be is in the presence of the Lord

Isaiah 37:3-4 (NLT) They told him, “This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the moment of birth and there is no strength to deliver them. 4 But perhaps the Lord your God has heard the Assyrian chief of staff, sent by the king to defy the living God, and will punish him for his words. Oh, pray for those of us who are left!”

·         When facing a battle- gather the troops to pray intercession for you

Isaiah 37:6-7 (NLT) Isaiah said to them, “Say to your master, ‘This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard- those words with which the underlings of the King of Assyria have blasphemed me. 7 Listen! I am going to put a spirit in him so that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country and there I will have him cut down with the sword.’”

·         Charles Spurgeon: “Consider how precious a soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it.”

Isaiah 37:11 (NLT) You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different?

Isaiah 37:14 (NLT) Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.

·         When facing a battle- bring your worries and troubles to God

Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Isaiah 37:15 (NLT) And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord:

·         When facing a battle- pray, worship and trust God

Isaiah 37:21-22 (NLT) “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Because you prayed about the King of Assyria, 22 the Lord has spoken this word against him:

Psalm 34:17 “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Isaiah 37:33-36 (NLT) “And this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria: “‘His armies will not enter Jerusalem. They will not even shoot an arrow at it. They will not march outside its gates with their shields nor build banks of earth against its walls. 34 The king will return to his own country by the same road on which he came. He will not enter this city,’ says the Lord. 35 ‘For my own honor and for the sake of my servant David, I will defend this city and protect it.’” 36 Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!

·         When facing a battle- let God fight and then give Him all the glory!
