As we celebrate Easter, we will see that God has invitation us all to a Open House, given to us through Jesus. We will see the barriers God has removed, the Veil, and Stone inviting us into a relationship with Him. Jesus is knocking what do we do?

Mark 15:33-39 At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi,
lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken Me?”).
When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, He’s calling
Elijah.” Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and
offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave Him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes
to take Him down,” he said. With a loud cry, Jesus breathed His last. The
curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the
centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how He died, he said, “Surely
this man was the Son of God!”
·
Jesus’ death has removed the barrier between
sinful people and Holy God. This is an invitation of Forgiveness.
Colossians 2:13-14 When you were dead in your sins and in the
uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all
our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood
against us and condemned us; He has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
Hebrews 10:19-23 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the
Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us
through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great priest over
the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the
full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us
from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we
profess, for He who promised is faithful.
·
What Jesus has done for us is enough. The Blood
of Jesus has cleansed us from all of our sins.
Mark 15:44-47 Pilate was surprised to hear that He was already dead. Summoning the
centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. 45 When he learned from the
centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 So Joseph bought some linen
cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut
out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. 47
Mary Magdalene and
Mary the mother of Joseph saw where He was laid.
Mark 16:1-8 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and
Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. 2 Very early on the first
day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb
3 and they asked
each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”
4 But when they
looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
5 As they entered
the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right
side, and they were alarmed. 6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for
Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the
place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into
Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” 8 Trembling and bewildered,
the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because
they were afraid.
Romans 8:10-11 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death
because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of Him
who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the
dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives
in you.
·
Jesus’ resurrection removed the barrier of
eternal death.
·
We have received an invitation of Heaven.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who
believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing
in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
·
We don’t have to fear death because Christ
defeated its power over us
Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
·
Jesus has given the invitation to have a
relationship with Him. Our Role is to open the door.
John 1:10-12 He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world
did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not
receive Him. Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His Name,
He gave the right to become children of God—
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not
from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
Hebrews 4:7 “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
·
Reasons for hard hearts (rejecting His voice)
·
Pride
– I want to be in control
·
Refusal to believe – doesn’t make sense logically
·
Unrepented sin – if I believe this I must change how I am
living
·
Bitterness from the past hurts – Blaming
God or hurt by others.
Matthew 10:32-33 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my
Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my
Father in heaven.
Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart
that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess
your faith and are saved.
