We will discover that personal transformation in a Christian's life goes far beyond the notion of self-improvement or trying to be our best selves. It is not about merely fixing a few flaws in an otherwise decent person and it certainly cannot be achieved through our own efforts. The Bible truthfully acknowledges that we, as individuals, are deeply flawed and broken, unable to mend ourselves. True transformation takes place when we allow Jesus to rescue us.

·
Real change starts with new life, not turning a
new leaf.
·
Real change is a process, not a destination.
·
Real change is letting go and grabbing hold.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation
has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who
reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of
reconciliation:
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry
it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the
Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Ephesians 4:20-24 That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about
Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old
self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the
attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in
true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 1:18-20 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you
may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious
inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who
believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he
raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly
realms,
1 Corinthians 15:13-14 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not
even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching
is useless and so is your faith.
·
Transformation is from God's outside power.
·
We're changed to change.
·
We submit and are transformed.
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you,
he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies
because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Colossians 3:1-2 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things
above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on
things above, not on earthly things.
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to
offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your
true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
2 Corinthians 5:15 And he died for all, that those who live should no
longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
·
The Church does not define the kingdom, The
Kingdom defines the Church.
·
Be concerned about community.
·
Be present in community.
·
Be encouraging each other in community
Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good
deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but
encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Ephesians 2:19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow
citizens with God's people and also members of his household,
Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called
"Today," so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
