Every disciple is gifted to serve the body of Christ. Let’s see what the Bible says about using those gifts.

Proverbs 14:4 (ESV) Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but
abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.
Philippians 4:9 (ESV) What you have learned and received and heard and
seen in me--practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Disciples are followers of Christ who learn,
receive and practice these things.
John 13:12-17 (ESV) When he had washed their feet and put on his outer
garments and resumed his place, he said to them, "Do you understand what I
have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and
Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
15 For I have given
you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to
you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than
the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
Galatians 6:9-10 (ESV) And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due
season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do
good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
John 13:34-35 (ESV) A new commandment I give to you, that you love one
another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people
will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one
another."
Romans 12:1-8 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present
your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your
spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of
your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is
good and acceptable and perfect. 3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among
you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think
with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has
assigned. 4 For
as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same
function, 5 so
we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of
another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us
use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our
serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the
one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who
does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
·
Serving = Faithfully dedicating your time (God’s time)
to using your spiritual gifts
1 Corinthians 12:26-27 (ESV) If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is
honored, all rejoice together. 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually
members of it.
Galatians 6:9-10 (ESV) And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due
season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let
us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of
faith.
